It is that time of the year again! You know what I am talking about right? Either you love it or you hate it. Or you are not being honest. Sun, friends and family, birds, sunglasses, short skirts, hammock and great food. Oh, yes. The grilling and picnic time is here.

Bučkini zavitki

Spet je tu tisti čas! Saj veš o čem govorim, ane? Sta samo dve možnosti, ali ga obožuješ ali pa ne maraš. Ali pa nisi čisto iskren/a. Sonce, prijatelji in družina, ptički, sončna očala, kratka krila, dobra hrana. Ja, čas žara in piknikov je tu!

bucke1aMy favorite grilled food are zucchini and mushrooms. Both well salted and with a bit of olive oil, pepper and garlic they taste amazing. It’s funny how simple things usually taste the best. But sometimes I like to impress my guests (I think you noticed it before with all that finger licking and eye catching party snack recipes?). Well I also consider my boy a guest and like to treat him like one once in a while. M. loves good food, and I love that he loves my cooking!

Today I made zucchini rolls with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes. I used some curry powder for seasoning and it gives it a bit of exotic taste. I liked it. This dish could be described as Italian – it is after all zucchini, mozzarella and tomatoes. With just a bit of rosemary, it would also taste Italian. You should try both versions.

Oh, I almost forgot. I used a pan today. But with my speech at the beginning – make them on a grill! Some of that smokey flavour and with grid marks they would taste and look even better. Can’t wait for the first grilling this weekend with S. and J.

For 10 rolls

1 zucchini, cut into really thin and long slices

mozzarella, torn to small pieces (10)

cherry tomatoes (10)

salt, pepper, garlic, curry powder, sugar, parsley

olive oil

Method

Combine all spices in a small dish – I used dry parsley, sugar gives it a nice oriental in combination with curry. You must use as many as you like. There really is no formula for this. But put in enough salt. Marinade zucchini stripes in spices for 5 minutes then saute them in a pan with a bit of oil. You can do this on a grill, if you like. Leave to cool a bit and wrap mozzarella and a quarter of a cherry tomato in each strip. Serve cold, as a side dish or starter.

Moja najljubša hrana iz žara so bučke in gobe. Oboje dobro soljeno in z nekaj oljčnega olja, popra in česna in okus bo fenomenalen. Smešno, kako so najbolj preproste stvari ponavadi tudi najslajše. Vseeno pa rada naredim vtis na moje goste (verjetno si že opazil/a, vsi ti recepti za njami in še lepe prigrizke?). No, tudi mojega fanta včasih postrežem kot gosta. M. obožuje dobro hrano in jaz obožujem dejstvo, da ljubi moje kuhanje!

Danes sem pripravila bučkine zavitke z mocarelo in češnjevim paradižnikom. Uporabila sem malo kari začimbe za malce eksotičen okus. Všeč mi je. Jed bi lahko opisala kot italijansko – konec koncev gre za bučke, mocarelo in paradižnik. Z dodatkom rožmarina, bi tudi po okusu spadala pod italijansko hrano. Moraš poskusiti obe različici.

Skoraj bi pozabila. Danes sem uporabila kar ponev. Ampak glede na moj govor zgoraj – poskusi jih narediti na žaru! Malo okusa po prekajenem in zapečen vzorec mreže jih bo naredil še boljše in lepše. Komaj čakam na prvi piknik ta vikend s S. in J.

Za 10 zavitkov

1 bučka, narezana na zelo tanke in dolge trakove

mocarela, natrgana na male kose (10)

češnjevi paradižiki (10)

sol, poper, česen, kari v prahu, sladkor, peteršilj

oljčno olje

Postopek

Zmešaj vse začimbe v majhni posodici – uporabila sem suh peteršilj, sladkor pa doda, v kombinaciji z karijem, poseben orientalski okus. Uporabi toliko začimb, kot želiš. Tu res ni nobene formule. Vseeno pa dodaj dovolj soli. Mariniraj bučke v začimbah pribižno 5 minut, nato pa jih na hitro popeci na ponvi z malo olja. Seveda lahko to narediš tudi na žaru. Počakaj da se malo ohladijo, nato pa v vsako zavij košček mocarele in četrtino paradižnika. Postrezi hladno, kot prilogo ali predjed.
